Revisiting Pontaro's works

Though beloved by Bara fans, Mr. Pontaro does not have any Wikipedia page.
Even the information on his contributions to the Japanese gay magazines such as Samson(サムソン) or Sabu(さぶ) is very limited.

I tried to dig up any info from the DB files from now-closed Doujinsh and Manga Lexicon, but the better result could be found at the "Back Issues" pages of Samson.

You can search the infos in the following link and you can search infos on the back issues from different years.

Following is the list of his works, the best that I can offer right now.

1. Cover arts for Samson

Mr. Pontaro drew covers for Samson from 2003 to 2004.

His first cover for Samson is as follows.

(c) Pontaro

The man in the cover wears a Santa Claus hat, for Japanese publishers tend to issue magazines months earlier. The January issue featuring the cover must have been out in the stores in November or December of 2002.

2. Comics

Though incomplete, these are works by Pontaro.

- Kokuhaku(告白, confession (of love)), Samson, August 1998

- Steady, Samson, October - November 2002

- Urisen, Samson

February, March, May, June, August, December 2005,

May, June, August to December 2006,

  January to December 2007

  January, February 2008

*Yeah, Urisen found online does not cover less than half of the full series.

- Darenimo ienai(誰にも言えない, Cannot tell anyone), ?, ?.

- Dr. Yoshida no yuuutsu(Dr.吉田の憂うつ, Depression of Dr. Yoshida), ?, ?.

3. Essay

He seriallized essay called Daddy-ism through Samson from August, 1999 to September 2005. The title says it all.

4. Illustration for gay erotic short stories

He also provided illustrations for gay erotic short stories for Samson, including the illustration for Bankruptcy.

The list is not complete.

I hope that the Japanse fans of Pontaro will shine a light on this matter.

(Map updated!!!) Japanese Gay Beach 釣師海岸(Tsurishi-kaigan/Tsurushi-kaigan)

I came across two sites introducing gay beaches in Japan. Of course there are not enough infomations, but both of them mentioned "Tsurishi-kaigan" or "Tsurushi-kaigan" which means "angler's beach" literally. It is a secret beach in Chiba, surrounded by sea and cliffs. There's no other way to reach but through a small cave made for local anglers. So it's not safe and not easy to go to this place. And the place is not close to the nearest railroad station, Namihana(浪花) station. This place is not an official gay beach nor nude beach. But the surroundings around this area make it almost perfect place for gays. So if you're ready for all the troubles, read on. :) First, you can get to Namihana (浪花) station http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Namihana_Station via JR. If you start from Tokyo, you can go to Chiba station via JR Sobu Line. And then you can reach Namihana station via JR Sotobo Line(the next station from Ohara s

Most recent comics from Jiraiya

According to Japanese Wikipedia, the most recent comics from Jiraiya are following: 青い空 入道雲 通り雨【前編】(216号 2014年1月) 青い空 入道雲 通り雨【後編】(217号 2014年2月) 恋人たちのありふれたやりとり(236号 2015年9月) (c) Jiraiya (from his personal blog) This seems to be the cover page of first comics (part 1 and 2), whose title seems to mean "blue sky, fleecy clouds, and passing rain." Jiraiya explains on his blog that A(on the left) lives with C(on the left) and B(in the middle) is a father of C. I don't know how the story would go. And the following image is one of scenes of second comics, whose title seems to mean "lovers' very common give and take" or something. (c) Jiraiya (from his personal blog) As you can see, it has been a while since he published new comic. But my post on his comic is one of the most popular posts among mine and this motivated me to write this article. He regularly updates his works and everything on his personal blog but only in JAPANESE. :) Happy new year, guys.

Newest comic by Jiraiya

I did not know till today that Jiraiya released his newest comic, Two Hoses, a story about two firemen, through Big Gym (in Japan) and Massive (in US). The picture above is from Big Gym (a gay store chain in Japan) twitter. As you can see, this comic seemed to be based on his previous artwork, which was used for several items. (I really love this artwork, even though I generally love his artwork. Actually I love all of his artworks.)  The 2nd image seems to be a promotional postcard. And the 3rd image is the US version of the comic. The image is from Massive.
