Beautiful Life (SBS Soap, 2010)

Currently, two gay-themed soaps are on Korean public TV networks.
One is Beautiful Life and the other is Personal Taste.
Beautiful Life shows the lives of big family members' in Che-ju Island.
They encounter many burdens in their daily lives. But they overcome helping each other.
That's the main theme of this show.
One of the family members is gay and under lots of pressure of marriage.
Not like in Western culture, in Asia it is expected to get married when he/she reaches certain age. Family members and even co-workers keep asking about personal life without boundaries.
So it's not easy to live a closeted life in this situation.
This character faces the same trouble. He's a doctor and in his 30's. No one doubts that he has to settle down with a good girl. But he's gay and starts to see a good guy (who suffered from forced marriage and now is a divorce'). Family members, not knowing anything about his being gay, expect him to get married and even worse, there's a woman who wants to marry him even after knowing he's gay.
Not like Personal Taste, Beautiful Life deals with real problems which any Korean gay could relate to.
And add to that, the writer of this show is one of the most famous writers in Korea, whose shows never failed. So many Koreans are watching this show, I suppose.
Because of these two shows on public TV networks, many articles were written including this following article from English Newspaper in Korea.

(Map updated!!!) Japanese Gay Beach 釣師海岸(Tsurishi-kaigan/Tsurushi-kaigan)

I came across two sites introducing gay beaches in Japan. Of course there are not enough infomations, but both of them mentioned "Tsurishi-kaigan" or "Tsurushi-kaigan" which means "angler's beach" literally. It is a secret beach in Chiba, surrounded by sea and cliffs. There's no other way to reach but through a small cave made for local anglers. So it's not safe and not easy to go to this place. And the place is not close to the nearest railroad station, Namihana(浪花) station. This place is not an official gay beach nor nude beach. But the surroundings around this area make it almost perfect place for gays. So if you're ready for all the troubles, read on. :) First, you can get to Namihana (浪花) station http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Namihana_Station via JR. If you start from Tokyo, you can go to Chiba station via JR Sobu Line. And then you can reach Namihana station via JR Sotobo Line(the next station from Ohara s

Most recent comics from Jiraiya

According to Japanese Wikipedia, the most recent comics from Jiraiya are following: 青い空 入道雲 通り雨【前編】(216号 2014年1月) 青い空 入道雲 通り雨【後編】(217号 2014年2月) 恋人たちのありふれたやりとり(236号 2015年9月) (c) Jiraiya (from his personal blog) This seems to be the cover page of first comics (part 1 and 2), whose title seems to mean "blue sky, fleecy clouds, and passing rain." Jiraiya explains on his blog that A(on the left) lives with C(on the left) and B(in the middle) is a father of C. I don't know how the story would go. And the following image is one of scenes of second comics, whose title seems to mean "lovers' very common give and take" or something. (c) Jiraiya (from his personal blog) As you can see, it has been a while since he published new comic. But my post on his comic is one of the most popular posts among mine and this motivated me to write this article. He regularly updates his works and everything on his personal blog but only in JAPANESE. :) Happy new year, guys.

Newest comic by Jiraiya

I did not know till today that Jiraiya released his newest comic, Two Hoses, a story about two firemen, through Big Gym (in Japan) and Massive (in US). The picture above is from Big Gym (a gay store chain in Japan) twitter. As you can see, this comic seemed to be based on his previous artwork, which was used for several items. (I really love this artwork, even though I generally love his artwork. Actually I love all of his artworks.)  The 2nd image seems to be a promotional postcard. And the 3rd image is the US version of the comic. The image is from Massive.
